The last weekend in September 2008 will see the launch of a four year programme of cultural events across the UK dubbed the Cultural Olympiad. A huge range of events will be taking place covering every possible aspect of artistic and cultural endeavour culminating in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
MACE is getting in right at the start of this exciting scheme with three screenings of archive film with a sporting theme. The free events are taking place at the Lighthouse Cinema in Wolverhampton on 26 September at 7.00pm, The Warwick Arts Centre on 27 September at 6.30pm and finally at the Old Market Hall in Shrewsbury on Sunday 28 September at 4.30pm.
So if like us you believe that the modern Olympic Games were not invented in Paris but in Shropshire or you want to see a man on a bike beat a car in a race, or if you really want to see pig singing and shin kicking demonstrated by true experts then come to the screenings!
