Take One Picture Project Inspires MLA pilot project

In Winter 2009 the Museum Libraries and Archives (MLA) approached MACE to pilot a project modelled on The National Gallery’s ‘Take One Picture’ scheme where a picture from the gallery is used each year as a stimulus for cross-curricular work in Primary Schools.

A teacher at Cloudside Junior School in Sandiacre , Nottinghamshire chose the film Kingsbury/Doncaster: Buoyant Upholstery Fire and Incendiary Bomb for her year 4 pupils to respond to and the results were a selection of poetry, artwork, storytelling and drama that can be seen at Sandiacre Library.

Based on the success of this project MACE is hoping to extend it an number of schools in a given area with the intention of being able to share the outputs from the schools.
