Steve Thwaites and Peter Raven, two of the great guys at ATVLand.productions came to visit MACE’s new facilities today to see the new offices, viewing rooms, technical suite and archive – just in time to help dispatch the first waive of DVDs to customers.
There has been a delay with printing this week which meant the first batch was 7 days late but they have now been sent out. Thank you to those who ordered for your patience. We can now send DVDs out the same day.
It was over a year ago that ATVLand.productions, a group of highly talented TV enthusiasts, came to visit me in Leicester to show me the documentary they were making about the history of the ATV Centre on Broad Street in Birmingham, and it became clear to me quite quickly that the film they had made fitted completely with MACE’s ethos – celebrating the rich screen heritage of the Midlands.
MACE preserves and makes accessible a diverse range of film, tape and digital material with a significance to the East and West Midlands, including a wealth of private collections, but our largest collection is the ITV Central regional collection and it seemed fitting that MACE work with the guys at ATVLand.productions to showcase some of the gems in the ITV Central collections by collaborating with them on turning the documentary into a DVD for many more people to enjoy.
A year later, here we are…we’ve released the DVD and we very much hope you enjoy it.
MACE is a registered charity and the proceeds MACE receive on sales will feed directly back into fulfilling our charitable aims of preserving the material we hold and providing access to this footage through our website, screenings, exhibitions and community & education outreach work.
From ATVLand in Colour has been a labour of love for all involved and we are very proud of what we have achieved as a small team. We hope you will share our passion for this era in Midlands television production.
From ATVLand In Colour is £14.99 until 30 November (RRP £17.99) and can be purchased HERE
