Today has been a busy and brilliant day at MACE, as we’ve welcomed both BBC Look North and ITV Central into our new facilities during the official launch of our new base.
ITV Central’s Andy Bevan produced a fabulous report on the ITV Central regional collection preserved at MACE as well as the fabulous private collections we care for. Two wonderful examples of this, Roger Bradley’s film of Granby Youth Club at Mallory Park, Leicestershire and Skegness Town Council film, We Chose Skegness were both featured, as well as a selection of gems from ATV Today and the early Central News.
Also featured in Andy’s report is a montage of footage of the ATV Today and Central News Reporter John Swallow who sadly died in 2008. It was a unanimous decision by the team at MACE to name our meeting/viewing room after John Swallow as his quirky and humourous stories of the people and places of the Midlands highlighted his passion and respect for the area he was, himself, from. John Swallow personified MACE’s own passion for the region as we celebrate all that is great about the region, through moving image.
