Past Lives, Cipher’s live musical experience using rarely seen archive footage, returns for another date in September, following a highly acclaimed Summer tour across the Midlands. The event will take place at New Mills Town Hall at 8pm on Saturday 15th September as part of the New Mills Festival.
‘Past Lives’ is a collection of home movies provided by The Media Archive for Central England set to a live music score. A thought provoking and engaging visual and live music experience that uses previously unseen footage from the Midlands during the 1930’s to the 1970’s.
The specially composed soundtrack created by the ambient Cipher duo Dave Sturt and Theo Travis, fuels a journey through time form the 1930’s to 1970s and the music creates a charged, almost poetic atmosphere evoking the beauty and emotion of each captured moment. These preserved memories cast before our eyes on the big screen is a truly spectacular experience. It creates a sense of nostalgia and unity as we discover a shared heritage and collective past.
A unique, evocative and genuinely moving experience not to be missed!
